Innovative TOPAQ Hydrogen Supply System in the Spotlight
Poppe + Potthoff once again took part in the Hyfindr Tech Talk video format. In this edition, Waldemar Raskop, Senior Technical Manager at Poppe + Potthoff, presented the innovative TOPAQ hydrogen supply system for fuel cells and hydrogen combustion engines in conversation with Hyfindr Co-Founder Steven Oji.
A Safe and Controlled Hydrogen Flow
The discussion focused on several key components of Poppe + Potthoff’s system solution, including high-pressure lines, the Parallel Charging Unit (PCU), and the newly developed High Pressure Regulation Unit (HPRU). These components are crucial for delivering hydrogen in a controlled manner from the tanks to the fuel cell or hydrogen engine. The system ensures safe and stable pressure reduction. Active pressure control by the HPRU compensates for inlet pressure fluctuations and dynamic load variations under changing temperatures while maintaining high control accuracy. At the same time, it allows the system to be pre-regulated for faster response times.
Optimized System Architectures for Various Applications
The Tech Talk particularly emphasized the outstanding versatility of the TOPAQ system solution. TOPAQ guarantees a constant and precisely regulated hydrogen flow for the efficient operation of fuel cells. At the same time, it enables a dynamic hydrogen supply specifically tailored to the varying requirements of hydrogen engines. This adaptability maximizes hydrogen utilization efficiency and helps to optimize both performance and safety across diverse applications. In this way, the application-optimized TOPAQ system architectures lay the foundation for decarbonization in mobility and industry.
