Injection line base material

Materials, Dimensions, and Pressure Resistance

Poppe + Potthoff offers various standard materials for pipeline components, specifically developed for our high-performance requirements: E 355, PP 600, PP 1000, and PPH2, which was designed for hydrogen applications. While E 355 and PP 600 have been successfully used for many years, PP 1000 was developed for the highest pressure requirements.

The diameters of high-pressure lines can be customized. Standard outer diameters include 6 mm, 6.35 mm, 8 mm, and 9 mm. Thanks to our extensive size spectrum, we can also develop special dimensions, such as outer diameters up to 30 mm, which are used in marine engines. The inner diameters are precisely tailored to customer specifications.

Our technological strength lies in combining high pressure resistance with the smallest pipe dimensions. By utilizing our proprietary materials and ensuring excellent surface quality, we achieve optimized performance with reduced weight and minimal installation space. Our material portfolio covers all required pressure levels. For example, PP 1000 allows for continuous pressure resistance of up to 2,700 bar at the 6.35 mm OD / 3.00 mm ID dimension commonly used in automotive applications and up to 3,200 bar at the 8.00 mm OD / 3.00 mm ID dimension typically found in commercial vehicles.

PPH2 – Innovation for Hydrogen Applications

For hydrogen applications, Poppe + Potthoff has developed the PPH2 material, which combines maximum pressure resistance with exceptional tightness and corrosion resistance, even under the extreme conditions of hydrogen systems. It is ideal for high-pressure hydrogen applications, offering safety and reliability.

PPH2 has been tested according to DIN EN ISO 11114 and ANSI/CSA CHMC 1-2014 and approved for hydrogen applications under EU Regulation (EC) No. 79/2009.

As a development partner for its customers, Poppe + Potthoff independently develops and produces components such as lines or rails made of PPH2 for nominal pressures up to 700 bar. Lines, H2 rails (manifolds), and interfaces made of PPH2 have been successfully certified by an independent testing institute according to EC79 and tested under maximum HGV3.16 requirements.

Surface Quality and Autofrettage

With our precise pipe manufacturing process, we guarantee inner wall defect depths of less than 20 μm. This outstanding surface quality is crucial for the high-pressure resistance of our products. Additionally, PP 600, PP 1000, and PPSH are registered trademarks of Poppe + Potthoff GmbH, representing our innovation and technological excellence.
