Material, dimensions, compressive strengths
Poppe + Potthoff provides three standard materials for line components, which have been especially developed and geared to our high-performance requirements.
E 355, PP 600 and the newly developed material PP 1000.
The materials E 355 and PP 600 are materials which have proven their mettle over many years. The material PP 1000 is the latest new development in the house of Poppe + Potthoff and has been designed especially for the highest pressure requirements. The diameters of the high-pressure lines can vary according to requirement. Standard external diameters are 6 mm, 6.35 mm, 8 mm and 9 mm. Due to the large dimension range of our tube-rolling mill we can also develop and manufacture other feasible dimensions, such as for example an external diameter up to 30 mm for marine engines. The internal dimensions are designed according to the respective customer requirements. Our special technological strength is the high pressure resistance with smallest tube dimension. We achieve this thanks to our own materials and excellent surface quality. It opens up higher performance with lower weight and optimised space.
In general, Poppe + Potthoff can cover each demanded pressure level with its material range. In the material PP 1000 the dimension AD 6,35 ID 3,00, which is widely used in the automobile sector, can be mapped infinitely with up to 2,700 bar and the dimension AD 8,00 ID 3,00 frequently used in commercial vehicles, in 3.200 bar.
Surface finish: With our processes of precision tube manufacture we achieve process-reliably internal wall error depths of < 20 μm. With this basic material we are successful in achieving the high compressive strengths.
Autofrettage: The autofrettage system especially manufactured for our processes ensure the fatigue strength of the high-pressure lines. These special systems are developed and built by Poppe + Potthoff Maschinenbau GmbH.
PP 600, PP 1000 and PPSH are registered trademarks of Poppe + Potthoff GmbH.
