R+W signs environmental pact

Investments in energy efficiency, solar power and environmental management
With industrial and precision couplings, the Poppe + Potthoff subsidiary R+W ensures that everything runs smoothly in the field of renewable energies, among others. The environmental balance is also being optimized in its own production.
Three new, frequency-controlled machining centers will reduce energy consumption in this segment by 25%. Furthermore, R+W saves 83% gas per year by using the waste heat from the compressed air generation systems.
“With the new photovoltaic system on the roof, we produce so much electricity that during the day all our own needs are covered,” says Holger Vogt, Senior Vice President Operations at R+W. “We can even feed about 1/3 of the regeneratively generated electricity into the grid.”
The commitment to the environment is to continue. R+W has now become a partner of the “Environmental Pact of Bavaria”, an initiative of the state government and industry. In addition, preparations for the certification of environmental management systems according to ISO 14001 are in full swing, with completion planned for 2021.
