German Mobility Award for NeMo.bil

Werther, October 23rd 2024
The project supported by Poppe + Potthoff wins in the ‘New Mobility Solutions’ category

The NeMo.bil project, which was initiated by the New Mobility Initiative Paderborn (NeMo), has won the German Mobility Award (DMP) in the ‘New Mobility Solutions’ category. A high-calibre jury from industry and politics decided on the award, which was presented by Federal Minister for Digital and Transport Volker Wissing at a festive ceremony.

The NeMo.bil project is about a swarm-like mobility concept as an alternative and supplement to traditional local public transport. The project partners involved are developing a completely new type of mobility system for the often forgotten rural regions. Thanks to a disruptive approach, this system achieves a level of energy and resource efficiency that was previously unrealizable. NeMo.bil offers an on-demand service that represents a real alternative to private cars in rural regions.

Smart hydrogen system enables innovative mobility concept

As an active project partner of NeMo.bil, Poppe + Potthoff (P+P) is contributing to the success of the innovative mobility concept. Together with partners, P+P is designing an entire smart hydrogen system from the fuelling receptacle to the storage system, including the tank control unit, through to the fuel cell for use in so-called towing vehicles (‘NeMo.Pro’). The P+P components belonging to this system include tank valves such as On Tank Valves, control valves such as the HPRU and the line system. By integrating these and other strategically selected sensors as well as additional vehicle data, P+P enables condition monitoring to detect faults at an early stage. In this way, security, performance and reliability are always ensured. Autonomous ultra-light vehicles (‘NeMo.Cab’) can connect to the towing vehicles on core routes and disconnect if necessary, in order to transport passengers individually to the desired destination.

A strong project team made up of different partners

The consortium of the NeMo.bil project consists of the following project partners: Aspens GmbH, AVANCO Composites GmbH, BULIGHT GmbH, CADFEM Germany GmbH, CP Tech GmbH, Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt e.V. (DLR), dSPACE GmbH, FIWARE Foundation e.V., HOLON GmbH, INYO Mobility GmbH, LIA GmbH, Neue Mobilität Paderborn e.V., PHOENIX CONTACT E-Mobility GmbH, Poppe + Potthoff GmbH, Reisewitz GmbH & Co. KG, Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, Ostwestfalen-Lippe University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Paderborn University, Berlin Science Centre and Dortmund University of Technology.
